My A35 (SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE)

Hi, I'm Martin Thorne.
I have no real reason to put this on the web -
but I have always
loved Austin cars and in particular the 1959 A35.
I was 17 when I bought my first one. (About 35 years
ago, by coincidence!) Now, living just outside Abingdon - MG country - I realise
what effect on the British car industry the A30/A35 and innovative 'A series' engine has
had. The MG club (and of course Morris Minor fanatics) sometimes forget where
this great power unit started - with Austin, of course!
My current A35 pictured above has genuine parts throughout (excepting a gold
seal replacement power unit and a chromium plated rocker cover) and it still
gives a good 50mpg on a run. It recently started after a 2 year period of financial
lay-up, with just a couple of turns on the handle (to get the oils up the pots),
and the carb being tickled,
How many modern day vehicles would have responded to such a call after such a
length of time!
